About these stories

Nearly fifty animal stories, and the whole catalogue of creatures children ask about: lions, tigers, elephants, whales, sharks, wolves, bears, gorillas, owls, frogs, snakes, bees, butterflies, kangaroos, pandas and the platypus. Most are true portraits — where the animal lives, what its body is for, the surprising thing it can do. A dozen are gentle adventures with a named animal at the centre: Luna the wolf pup, Emma the elephant, Oliver the octopus, Bella the honeybee, Charlie the chameleon.

Written for three- to six-year-olds and read aloud in about five minutes, each ending with a question to talk about. For a narrower shelf, try Safari Animals, Ocean Animals, Dinosaurs or Animal Superpowers.
