Crows and Tools

High in the old oak tree, Corvus the clever crow watched the sunlit garden. He loved everything that was shiny.

But the grumpy gardener always chased Corvus away. The clever bird studied his frowning face, memorizing it for a long time.

One morning, the gardener dropped a shiny silver key deep inside a narrow wooden pipe and walked away, frustrated.

Corvus hopped down and peered into the dark pipe. The key sparkled far below, but his beak was too short to reach it.

Corvus spotted a straight piece of shiny copper wire in the grass. He hopped over to inspect his new find.

Using a heavy stone, Corvus pressed the wire down. He carefully bent the tip with his beak to make a hook.

With his brand-new hook held tightly in his beak, Corvus hopped back to the dark pipe, ready to fish out the treasure.

He carefully lowered the wire hook deep into the dark opening, feeling around for the lost key.

Click! The hook caught the silver key. Corvus pulled slowly, hoisting the shiny treasure up to the light.

Just then, the gardener returned and stopped in his tracks. He gasped to see the clever crow holding the shiny key!

Corvus gently dropped the silver key right at the gardener's feet. The old man smiled warmly, amazed by his cleverness.

Though Corvus remembered the old grumpiness, he decided a new friend was the best and shiniest treasure of all.
