Whales: Giants of the Ocean

Deep beneath the sparkling waves, a gentle blue whale glides through her sunlit home. She moves as softly as a cloud.

She is longer than three school buses parked in a line, making her the largest animal to ever live on Earth.

As the ocean waters begin to cool, a deep, booming song echoes through the waves. It is time to journey to the icy south.

Hearing the call, other great whales join the song. Together, they begin their long swim across the vast, open ocean.

They swim through warm, swirling currents, creating a gentle path for smaller sea creatures to follow safely.

When giant, stormy waves toss the ocean surface, the whales dive deep into the calm, dark water to stay safe.

Traveling further south, the water grows chilly. The giants blow tall plumes of mist into the crisp, cold air.

Giant white icebergs appear, floating like silent castles. The freezing water glows with a strange, icy blue.

The giant whale listens closely to the echoes of her song, finding a safe path through the narrow maze of ice.

At last, the icy passage opens into a wide sea shimmering with millions of tiny, glowing krill, a feast for the hungry giants.

With wide mouths open, the giants scoop up the glowing krill. The long, hard journey has brought them to this wonderful feast.

Safe and full, the magnificent giants leap joyfully into the cold air, peaceful guardians of the deep blue world.
