In the green canopy, Charlie's family blended into the brown bark. But Charlie's bright skin swirled like a glowing rainbow.
"I wish I could just stay one quiet, brown color," Charlie sighed, adjusting his tiny satchel. He felt like a glowing beacon.
Charlie watched his cousins hide so easily among the moss, wishing he could disappear just like them.
Suddenly, a dark shadow swept across the branches. A hungry hawk circled high above, searching the leaves for a snack.
Charlie's family froze like still leaves. Charlie shivered with fear, knowing his bright, swirling colors made him easy to spot.
Charlie tried to squeeze under a leaf, but his bright tail poked out. The hawk's sharp eyes spotted him instantly.
The hungry hawk swooped lower, its sharp talons outstretched. The entire forest held its breath as the shadow crept closer.
Charlie knew he had to act fast. He took a deep, brave breath, ready to use his bright colors to save his family.
Charlie leaped to the highest branch, flashing his skin in a dazzling mosaic of emerald, gold, and sky blue.
The hawk swooped after the dizzying colors, while Charlie's family safely scurried deep into the tree's dark hollow.
Charlie wiggled out of a safe crevice as the baffled hawk flew away. His family scrambled out to cheer for their brave hero.
Charlie smiled at his swirling, bright skin. He finally loved his beautiful colors, knowing they were his own special superpower.
