The story

Deep in a sun-dappled Australian creek, a little platypus splashes softly. He looks like a puzzle made of different animals.

With a duck's bill, a beaver's tail, and webbed feet, he is a wonderful mystery. The curious river frogs watch him swim by.

One bright morning, a colorful parrot swoops down to announce the Great Forest Festival. All the animals are invited!

The little platypus wants to join the fun, but he worries. What special talent could a mixed-up creature like him show the forest?

He tries hopping high like a bouncy kangaroo, but his heavy beaver tail makes him tumble into the soft grass.

Next, he tries to climb a tall eucalyptus tree like a koala. But his smooth, webbed feet keep slipping down the bark!

Feeling sad, he dives deep into the cool river. He closes his eyes and lets his amazing bill guide him through the dark water.

At the festival, the shiny grand prize rolls down a steep bank. It sinks deep into a dark, murky underwater cave.

The land animals cannot swim, and the fish cannot see through the thick, dark mud. Only the brave little platypus can help!

He dives into the pitch-black cave. Using his special bill to sense his way, he finds the sparkling prize resting in the dark.

With a big splash, he bursts through the surface holding the shining prize. The waiting animals erupt into joyful cheers!

The animals realize that being different is what makes him so special. He smiles, finally proud of his unique, wonderful self.
