About these stories
A seed sleeps in the dark and then pushes toward the light. Under every tree is another tree made of roots, holding on. The oldest tree in the Amazon has been watching over its forest for five hundred years. These are slow, patient stories — the right speed for the end of the day.
Two of them are about people: George Washington Carver as a sick boy who could not work the fields and so tended the garden instead, and The Traveling Seed, which crosses mountains and oceans before it finds the spot where it belongs. Seeds and Roots are written for older listeners; the rest for ages three to six.
