High up on the cliffs, big strong rocks stand tall. Down in the quiet pools, shiny seashells rest under the warm sun.
A playful wave rushes high up the shore. It sweeps a smooth grey pebble and a pink shell into the tumbling sea.
Deep underwater, the pebble and shell roll along the ocean floor. The cool, blue currents nudge them gently forward.
As they tumble, they bump and slide against other stones. The tireless water slowly rubs away their sharp, rough edges.
Day after day, the gentle tides wash over them. The pebble and shell grow smaller, smoother, and brighter.
Now they are tiny, colorful fragments swirling in the deep blue. The ocean currents begin to spin faster and faster.
Suddenly, a big storm wave swoops down! It tumbles the tiny pieces through a wild, bubbly washing machine of water.
The wild storm passes, leaving the water quiet. The tiny pieces are now perfectly polished, sparkling like little gems.
A soft, gentle wave gathers the sparkling grains. It carries them slowly back toward the bright, sunny shore.
The wave washes onto the beach, gently leaving the tiny grains on the shore. They join millions of other colorful pieces.
Warm sunlight shines on the beach. Together, the countless tiny grains make a soft, golden blanket of sand.
Children run along the shore, sinking their toes into the soft sand. The tiny rocks and shells have found a happy new home.
